AFMC Admission Circular 2025-2026
Armed Forces Medical College is a government institution controlled by the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The Armed Forces Medical College has two categories. These are AMC (Army Medical Core) Cadet & AFMC Cadet. Eligible candidates can apply for admission to five private Army Medical Colleges run by Bangladesh Army. Minimum Eligibility to Apply for Admission
Education Qualification:
- SSC/Equivalent Passing Year: 2022 or 2023
- HSC/Equivalent Passing Year: 2024 or 2025
- Armed Forces Medical category candidates must have total GPA 09.00 in HSC and SSC examinations.
- Army Medical category applicants must have GPA 09.00 in both HSC and SSC examinations. However, GPA 8.00 for tribal quota (minimum GPA in each exam should be 3.50).
- In both categories, candidates have to get minimum GPA of 3.50 in Biology in HSC/ equivalent examination.
Physical Fitness:
The candidate has to be promoted to the health examination by the medical board observer.

Mark Distribution:

- 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the written test
- Must have a minimum score of 40 out of 100 in the written test.
- Those who get less than 40 marks on the written test will be considered as fail.
- Only pass candidates will be included in the merit list.
Candidate Evaluation Method:
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of GPA of SSC/ Equivalent and HSC/ Equivalent and the marks obtained in the admission test as follows:

Note: If the examinee has participated in the medical/ dental examination before, then 5 marks will be deducted. And if the examinee is a medical/ dental student, his/ her 7.5 marks will be deducted.

Armed Forces Medical College
Armed Forces Medical College (abbreviated as AFMC) is a military medical college situated inside the Dhaka Cantonment. AFMC was established by the government of Bangladesh in 1999. Armed Forces Medical College is run by the Bangladesh Armed Forces and is a college under the Ministry of Defense. There are two types of students: Medical Cadet (AFMC Cadet) and Army Medical Core Cadet (AMC Cadet).
Its administrative activities started on June 20, 1999 with 56 medical cadets. It is under the Ministry of Defense, approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. This medical college admits 100 students every year and till 2006 it was affiliated to Dhaka University. It has been affiliated to Bangladesh University of Professionals since 2009.

Q: What does AFMC Cadet mean ?
Ans : MBBS students of armed forces Medical College are identified as Cadets. The
candidates and their parents or legal guardians are required to sign indemnity bonds on nonjudicial stamps regarding terms and conditions of coaching , discipline, etc. before admission in
the college. consistent with the bond, if any medical cadet wants to go away the AFMC or is
withdrawn or expelled from the faculty for his or her fault the concerned parents or legal
guardian are going to be susceptible to pay the compensation.
Q: Will the Medical Cadets get commission at the top ?
Ans: Medical Cadet passed out of AFMC has got to compete with other medical graduate
recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) to urge themselves commission
in Army Medical Corps (AMC). They, however aren’t required to take a seat for the written examination
as mandatory for other medical graduates wanting to get commissioned in AMC, but need to
appear Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB). Those selected for intake shall need to join AMC
and undergo required training in Bangladesh academy , Army Medical Corps Center and
School and soldiers Medical Institute as per laid down terms and conditions.
Q: Why students are considered as cadet in AFMC ?
Ans: AFMC believes that basic training is important for correct grooming from a
disciplined personnel. Keeping this view, students of this institute are identified as AFMC
Cadet.
Q: Is it a full residential college?
Ans : Yes, cadets only can leave of the campus with prior permission/leave.
Q: Is there any restriction on marriage?
Ans : Yes, cadets (both male and female) cannot marry during study in AFMC. Special
applications also are not entertained.
Q: Who will get chance for written examination?
Ans: there’ll be no short listing for entrance exam this year (2018). All valid applicants

Ans: Yes, soldiers Medical College may be a Government Medical College under Ministry of
Defence. But, other 05 (five) Army Medical College’s (AMCs) aren’t Government Medical
Colleges.
Q: Which University awards degree to the cadets?
Ans : After successful completion of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course the degree is awarded by Bangladesh
University of execs (BUP) and gets registration from Bangladesh Medical and Dental
Council (BMDC).
Q: do that institute ask money during admission unlike other government Medical
Colleges?
Ans : Yes, detail is in prospectus. Cadets need to pay Caution money (one time & refundable)
in addition to entrance fee . because it may be a compulsory residential institution the cadets need to pay
Messing charge, laundry and allied charges on quarterly basis.
Q: Is training compulsory for all cadets?
Ans : Yes, cadets are given basic training (PT, drill, games) and is compulsory
for both gender. No ‘arms training’ is within the schedule.
Q: Can anyone withdraw herself/ himself from this institute at any time?
Ans: Authority can expel any cadet out of the school at any time if his/her activities seem to be
subversive to the present institute or Bangladesh Army; but individual cadet cannot leave this institute.
In some special cases, cadet can leave the institute with compensation as mentioned within the
prospectus.
Q: what’s the minimum educational requirement for AMC category?
Ans: In either SSC & HSC or its equivalent examination, the candidate must have GPA 5.00
(with 4th subject) and have minimum 3.50 mark in Biology in HSC or its equivalent
examinations.
Q: Will all the AMC cadets be commissioned on completion of MBBS course?
Ans: AMC Cadets after completion of internship training are going to be selected for Army Medical
Corps consistent with the need of Bangladesh Army subject to vacancy of the corps and
ISSB selection and that they need to undergo training in Bangladesh academy , Army
Medical Corps Center and faculty and soldiers Medical Institute as per laid down terms
and conditions. The AMC cadets if failed in 3 or more subjects in professional examinations will
not be commissioned in AMC. As soon because the cadet got referred in 3 subjects or more are going to be
withdrawn from AMC cadetship. If the cadet wants to continue as AFMC cadet, the disqualified
cadet has got to pay all dues adequately before applying for that.
