Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board at a Glance

The rural electrification board in Bangladesh was established in 1978 under the order of the President of Bangladesh, which was known as the “Rural Electrification Board Order No.51 of 1977”. Subsequently, in the year 2013, the Ordinance was replaced by the Ordinance of the Bangladesh rural electrification board, which is referred to as the “RENB Act 2013”. BREB Job Circular 2023

The Bangladesh Electricity Supply Company (BREB) is the largest provider of electricity in Bangladesh, and is primarily involved in the construction of power lines and power substations in the rural areas. Villages play a vital role in the growth of the rural population, and make Bengal a city like city. By 2011, BREB had established eighty rural power companies, and these rural electricity associations continue to pursue their mission of full electrification across the country through government-subsidized home electricity.  The substations in the 33/11 kV range of remote and isolated regions receive electricity from the state grid through the 33 kV line, and supply electricity directly to consumers through the 11 kV line.
